I've got you under my skin
Well, hello everyone! It's been a crazy few days what with the holiday and various birthday parties over the weekend. My friend Pia celebrated her 22nd on Wednesday and led the charge on a bar hop through the heart of New Jersey (not my favorite thing to do - wayy too many bump its and fake tans for my liking), and Thursday was of course filled with family, food and great friends. My siblings and I throw our annual Thanksgiving party and this year's didn't disappoint :) Friday was spent out to dinner with my family for my brother's 26th (!), and then another night out on Saturday in Hoboken for my bestie Dave's 24th. Needless to say I am totally pooped, and my bank account is quite peeved at me!
And that's precisely why I totally can't afford to pick up all the things I've been eyeing on ASOS lately. I was a little underwhelmed for a few weeks there but they totally got me again with some of their new pieces. On my list right now:
The Wrap Front Ruched Sleeve Blouse ($44.82). Now this is much more attainable price-wise. I love this silhouette, it's so classic. This is a top that could definitely do double duty - under a blazer or tucked into a pencil skirt for work, or dressed up with tons of jewelry, leggings, and sexy boots for a night out.
The Khaki Biker Skinny Jeans ($62.06). I wouldn't call these khaki, they look more dark brown to me, but to each his own. I am loving the biker details on jeans lately - The stitching detail gives these so much more visual interest than if they were just plain old brown skinnies. And of course they're paired here with the Steve Madden Korset booties I've been having heart palpitations over...it's a sign!
Let's be real here, I think most of us could go on all day about things we want to buy, but these are four of my top picks at the moment. ASOS is still offering free shipping world wide, as well as up to 70% off in their clearance section, which is usually pretty good. Speaking of ASOS, don't forget to enter my ASOS Curve Giveaway! Happy shopping!
And that's precisely why I totally can't afford to pick up all the things I've been eyeing on ASOS lately. I was a little underwhelmed for a few weeks there but they totally got me again with some of their new pieces. On my list right now:

The V Neck Biker Maxi Dress ($94.82). I can tell that my style has changed in the last few months because this is not something I think I would have even thought about getting in the past. Now though, it's way up there on my wish list. I'd love it for a night out styled like the pic - dark tights, heels, jewelry, I'd probably add a belt too, or this could work in the summer with bare legs and gladiators. The only thing that's stopping me from picking it up. Is the pricetag. With the exception of outerwear and occasion dresses, it's rare for me to drop more than $60 or so on any one piece (maybe jeans too, if they make my ass look great enough lol). ASOS does have good sales though, and I do have 10% off, so this baby is staying on my radar until the price is a little more my range.

This is a top that could definitely do double duty - under a blazer or tucked into a pencil skirt for work, or dressed up with tons of jewelry, leggings, and sexy boots for a night out.

The Jersey Puff Sleeve Zip Back Top. This is a top I've been eyeing for a few months, and now that it's only $34.48, it will definitely be in my next order. It's a similar style as the Wrap Front Blouse - very feminine, very girly, lots of pretty detail. I would love wearing this to work, and I'm sure the jersey fabric makes it super comfy. I usually order a US16 (UK20) from ASOS with no problem, but I think I'll size up in this to the 18 (22) so the front pleating lies correctly and doesn't pull.
The Khaki Biker Skinny Jeans ($62.06). I wouldn't call these khaki, they look more dark brown to me, but to each his own. I am loving the biker details on jeans lately - The stitching detail gives these so much more visual interest than if they were just plain old brown skinnies. Seeing Red Again
The holiday season has really sneaked up on me! I couldn't believe it when I heard Christmas music blaring as I browsed at Loehmann's last night. Apparently the holiday atmpsphere has sneaked it's way into my subconscious and taken over my wardrobe, because if this outfit isn't holiday-ish, I don't know what is!
I can't say I'm complaining though, I quite like this outfit. This was a summer dress, the same one I wore in my very first post, actually. I didn't think this would work as well as it does for winter - All I needed was the tights and the cardi and bam! I'm festivities ready! I didn't wear a necklace because I thought with the beading it'd be overkill, but I think adding a delicate gold piece would be simple enough. Please excuse my tired face, these were shot by my lovely sister/guest photographer Kali after a long day at work, a frenzied search for those Steve Madden Boots (I visited literally seven different stores), and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows -- which was awesome!
I've been trying to figure out what I want to wear for Thanksgiving dinner this year, and I think this outfit is a contender. I'm also thinking about the houndstooth dress, maybe with this red cardi instead of the black. I'm so tempted to shop but I need to save some extra cash for Christmas shopping ...you don't know how much self restraint that requires lol!
Cardigan: Old Navy
Dress: American Rag via Macy's
Tights: Hue
Pumps: Unlisted via Nordstrom Rack
Belt: Old Navy
Bracelet: Kali's
Earrings: Target
Ring: No idea lol
Big welcome to Big Beautyful Mess and Gabi of Hungry for Fashion! Great to see you ladies!

Murphy's Law
If there is one person in the world who continuously gets screwed by Murphy's Law, it's my sister. Sometimes, the things that happen to her are just so ridiculous that you have to laugh.
Case in point: This weekend's Michigan adventure. A 9 hour road trip, Four Loko, an open container citation, and one crazy football game later, Kali (that's my sister), Demetri (her BF) and I were back in the car, packed and ready to go. She drives an old VW Passat (which was a heap) that my dad bought and had fixed up. When we finally arrived in Michigan at 6am on Friday morning, the VW sounded ROUGH, so we stopped at a gas station to check the oil and make sure everything was ship shape before we hit the road again for the drive home. It looked fine - until she tried to start the car again...and got nothing. Poor girl! She was too scared of my dad's wrath to call him herself so she got my brother to do it for her. Fortunately for her, it turned out the problem was one she couldn't have prevented, so we turned out attention to the little problem of getting home. Me having work on Monday, I thought I was screwed. My dad's a smart cookie though and told us to take my brother's car home and have him take the VW when he comes for Thanksgiving. Dad saves the day!
Anyway, that was my weekend adventure and it sure was worth the 18 hour round ride.
If you haven't checked it out, visit me on Twitter @FataleFashion to see a few impromtu outfit photos I did during the trip :)
Back to business! I'm a little behind so here's my outfit from Thursday. I snapped these in a rush before leaving on our mini vacation.
This jacket has been in my closet for a while. I always got frustrated trying to wear it because these flaps of fabric behind the lapels would always poke out and look funny. Between that and long sleeves, I felt like it just looked very unflattering. I finally got around to sewing down those fabric flaps and decided to give it a go with rolled sleeves. Ta da! I actually quite like the way it fits after my alterations. Looking at the pics now, I wish that I'd gone with a big statement necklace to break up the high neckline of this top - that, or a top with a lower neckline. I love the print on this top though and I liked the colors together so I went with it.
I'd like to take a moment to say a word about these jeans. These are Calvin Klein Boyfriend fit jeans - they are hands down the most comfortable and best fitting jeans I own. No DIY necessary! Also, they're made of the most luxuriously soft denim. These are worth every penny! (FYI - The link above is a different wash than mine, but the fit is the same.) In my book, CK has the best plus size jeans...I'm planning to try out their jeggings as well :)
I love these shoes I picked up a Target a few years ago! The almond toe is so classy and they have such a cute little wedge. These are so easy to dress up or down!
Jacket: NY & Co (no longer available)
Top: I THINK it's Alfani - I need to double check. Anyway, via Macy's, and no longer available.
Jeans: Calvin Klein via Macy's
Shoes: Target (no longer available)
Bracelet: Kali's
Earrings: Target
Ring: H&M
Polish: OPI You Don't Know Jacques

Missed connection: I saw you on ASOS, and my heart fluttered...
Missed connection: I saw you on ASOS, and my heart fluttered...
...And then shattered into a million tiny pieces when you were sold out EVERYWHERE!!
Here's the back story: I saw these boots on an ASOS Curve model while browsing around for some new items. Ever since I finally got my ASOS order (review to come of my tribal dress and bangle), there hasn't really been that much that's caught my eye, but when I clicked on the ASOS CURVE Pleat Detail Shirt Dress, those boots were just - BAM - in my face, screaming to be had. I went through every single page of boots and "shoe boots" on the site (and there were about 50), and even emailed their customer service to try to find out what genius created this piece of shoe art. Yes, art. Anyway, they weren't any help really, so after a few minutes of furious web-scouring, I discovered they're the Steve Madden Women's Korset Boot. And that they're sold out. Everywhere.
Why must you tease me ASOS?! It's SO unfair!! Now I've got my heart set on these and they'll never be mine. My only possible option is to grab one of the two pairs I saw on eBay. One of which is a size 8.5, and the other a 10. Neither of which, as a 9-9.5, is my size. Just my freakin' luck, right?
Has anyone had a run in with these boots; do they run large or small?? Could I get away with sizing up or down?? This is how desperate I am for these shoes people!!!
On a happier note, please welcome the fabulous Nicolette of Nicolette Mason, as well as Abigail of Mitten Paws!

November's a tricky devil!
Hey everyone! Hope you all had a lovely weekend - I know I did! There's nothing better than just hanging out with friends, laughing and having some drinks! After a chill Saturday night of beers and The Game of Life with The Green E and some other friends, I headed out to a local bar on Sunday afternoon to celebrate another friend's birthday with some Sunday football.
The weather has been all over the place around here! After a pretty chilly week, who woulda thought Sunday would be back in the 60's?? I decided to take advantage and try out my new Gorilla tripod to catch the last bit of afternoon rays for some outdoor shots.
Lookie! It's the yellow ruffle top I ordered on sale from Torrid. It came so quickly! I was in such a bright mood that I couldn't resist going all out with the colors, so I decided to remix the purple cardi I wore to work earlier that week. Paired with some dark denim, yellow loafers, a belt, and a white cami underneath for modesty (gotta keep the girls under control while it's still daylight lol!) and I was good to go!
Like I've said before, I'm usually not such a big fan of Torrid, but I like this top a lot. The yellow leans a bit more towards an egg yolk-y hue than I though it would, but I'm not much bothered by that. The fabric is a nice, stretch jersey with matching lace, which makes for a really pretty, flouncy ruffle down the front and around the bottom. The ruffle extends all the way around the back, which is a plus - I can't stand when a pattern or detail stops and the seams and doesn't continue to the back, it makes things look so cheap! Like any other jersey piece, the fabric is a bit clingy, so either layer a tank underneath to camouflage any bumps, or size up if it's very bothersome. I got the size 2 and it works perfectly for me. Thumbs up, Torrid!

It's casual, not heartbreaking
When I rolled out of bed yesterday I hardly had the energy to put together an outfit, let alone put on heels! Some people can be super dressed up everyday, but let me tell you, I'm not one of those girls. There's nothing wrong with keeping it casual, but no one said that has to mean sloppy. In my opinion, there are two main ways to keep your casual outfits looking cute: color and accessories.
For a lazy day like yesterday, this is the kind of thing you'll usually find me in. Skinnies, a tee, a cardi, and some sweet jewelry. This purple cardigan is one of my favorites simply because the color is so vibrant! It definitely gives a bit of energy to the whole get-up, much more than if I had just thrown on a black cardi or blazer. It also toned down the tie-dye thing I've got going on this t-shirt, though the grey palette keeps the tie-dye from being too...woodstock?
I want to talk about these skinny jeans really quick. I picked these up from Faith 21 a few weeks ago for SUPER cheap. I got the 18 because they fit well on my thighs and hips, even though they were a teensy bit loose in the waist. After a day of wear, it felt like there had been a party in my pants because the waist had magically become practically two sizes too big!! Now, I'm no seamstress, but putting darts in a waistband is nothing I've never done before. Some sewing skills later, my jeans fit once more :) Moral of the story is, make sure your waistband fits - but if the jeans are only $7 (I shit you not; that wasn't even on sale!), a little bit of DIY is ok!
Back to the outfit...These are some of my favorite pieces of jewelry, and it just so happened that the purple cardigan tied them all together. The necklace was another outlets steal, a Rachel Roy piece with a big toggle closure. The ring was my mom's, a gift from her uncle, but it had been sitting in her jewelry box for ages because the thin band snapped. I'd been eyeing it since I was a wee little tyke, so my parents finally got it fixed and resized for me :) I love this gold bangle too, the designs on it give it a vintage feel.

What do you usually wear on a lazy, casual day?
50% off Clearance at Torrid
Thanks to Monique at Curves and Chaos for the heads up about Torrid's 50% off Clearance sale!
I'm usually not a big fan of Torrid - I find their clothes a little young and way too expensive for what you're getting, but for $12 plus shipping, I couldn't pass up this sunny little beauty:
I love the ruffles on this! It'll look so cute under a cardigan/sweater/jacket.
Are you getting anything from Torrid's sale?
I'm usually not a big fan of Torrid - I find their clothes a little young and way too expensive for what you're getting, but for $12 plus shipping, I couldn't pass up this sunny little beauty:

You ain't nothing but a houndstooth
My Lane Bryant houndstooth dress has been sitting in my closet taunting me ever since I ordered it in mid-October. I was holding off wearing it at first because I really wanted to pair it with the booties I was expecting from ASOS. When I got the sad news that my ASOS order was not coming (oh the lies!), I still refrained - my trusty peep toe pumps died after a crazy alumni weekend at my college, and I need a new pair of pumps to wear with the dress.
Enter the elusive ASOS package that arrived on Monday! As soon as I tore those booties out of the box I knew it was time to break out the dress as well. It was the moment I had been waiting for! And when it finally all came together, I was not disappointed in the least.
Now clearly, the dress is much better on me with the cardi. Without, it's a little WOAH BOOBS! But with the cardi, I LOVE this dress. The quality is great, I love the thick ponte fabric. The weight of the ponte plus the houndstooth pattern do a great job of camouflaging any lumps and bumps - I love how smooth my silhouette looks, especially in the skirt area. If there's one thing I would change with this dress, it'd be the neckline. I don't find the cowl neck to be the most flattering on me; I feel like my chest prevents it from draping as much as it would on a less endowed person. I replaced the skinny black belt it came with with an almost exact replica of my own, simply because mine is shorter and the tail doesn't stick out too much. If you're thinking of buying this dress, especially online, know that it runs a bit big - I'm usually in the 16-18 range, but this dress is a 14/16 and has room to spare.
The buttons on my cardi were gold so I took that and ran with it. While invading my mom's jewelry box, I found these "x" earrings and matching bracelet which I thought would be cute as they sort of mimic the houndstooth print. The watch was the same idea so I threw it on as well, though I can tell you I don't think I even glanced at it once for the time lol...I'm not really a watch person I guess.
And last but not least, the booties. OH, the booties!
I am beyond in love with these. If it was legal to marry a pair of shoes, we'll be on our honeymoon right now. These shoes made me feel fierce. FIERCE! The heel is soo sexy but still not bad at all to walk in due to the hidden platform. and the pointed toe is TO DIE FOR. I love how the fabric upper of the bootie blends with my tights and looks seamless; it makes my legs look long and lean. All in all, this outfit was a winner for me from head to toe. I got SO many compliments and felt great all day :) and that's what fashion's all about right??

Fenn who?
TJ Maxx and I have come a long way in our relationship. At first we weren't friends - TJ was way too messy, way to complicated, and we didn't get along at all. In fact, I used to leave TJ frustrated and disappointed, vowing I'd never waste my time on him again.
Enter The Green E, who's had a long enduring love affair with TJ. Somehow, TJ always caters to her every need and seems to simply hand her the very best stuff he has. She convinced me; I decided that I'd give it another shot.
And I'm so glad I did. Things have gotten steamy lately with TJ. It's red hot love and I don't plan it to stop anytime soon.
This outfit features two of my latest purchases at TJ Maxx; This grey wool tie-blazer thingy, and black patent almond-toe pumps.
I am in love with this blazer/jacket/sweater creation. I felt very professional, but still chic when I wore this to work yesterday. I love it because it has this great structure to it with seaming in the shoulder, yet it's still sort of business casual because of the fabric and the tie detail.
The name on the label is Fenn Wright Mason, which I'd never heard of. It turns out to be a relatively upscale label in the UK as far as I can tell, and this jacket probably retailed at somewhere in the $200 (£125) range. I picked it up for $40! I love a bargain :)
I paired this with a basic black scoop neck tee and wide leg denim trousers. On my feet are the new pumps I mentioned. They're super comfy, and I love the almond toe, it's updated from the classic pointy pump. You can't see it in the picture below, but they also have a cone heel. Love!

So I was still feeling a little guilty about the whole ASOS thing today so I asked my mom what I should do. After I reassured her that they gave me the refund long before I got my package, she shrugged, gave me a high five and told me I lucked out. Mom's word is law! I'll happily wear my new booties with a clear conscience :)

Holy Crap!
Holy crap guys, you will never guess what happened to me!!!! I must have been visited by the fashion gods because yesterday, six days after I got a my refund, my ASOS order came in the mail!!!!! I couldn't believe it!!
What's a girl supposed to do now? Contact ASOS and tell them I FINALLY, after a month, got my order? I hardly think they'd try to tell me to give them the money back. A month is a shameful amount of time to wait for a package, even one from overseas. Do you think I should tell them?

Booooooooots
These will soon be mine!
I feel like these boots are going to fill a big hole in my current shoe wardrobe. As far as boots go, mine are mostly casual, with the exception of my grey slouch ones from Target which can be dressed up. These boots will definitely work for nicer occasions :)
On an unrelated note, I was thinking about starting a little Fatale Fashion store. I have lots of stuff that I either haven't worn at all or have worn just once or twice that I just can't bring myself to give away. Would you guys be interested in something like that? I'd so rather give you, my lovely followers a good price on items you'd want rather than list them on eBay or something. Leave a comment and let me know!
Welcome to Cookiii, Gabriela Perez, Elizabeth, and Arlene Moskwa!

Adrianna Papell = Genius
The Stiletto Siren's Droolworthy Dress of the Day popped up in my google reader this morning. She was showcasing one of designer Adrianna Papell's gorgeous plus size creations. If you've never heard of Adrianna Papell (which is a company, not an acutal person - It was founded by the Berkman family in New York in 1979) it's a well respected brand that does both straight-size and plus size evening wear. In my opinion, they do some the of best evening wear around for plus sizes.
I'm already the proud owner of two Adrianna Papell dresses, both of which have gotten tons of wear to weddings, parties, New Years Eve events, and other such fancy evenings:

I've gotten SO many compliments on both of those dresses, especially the pink one. The ruching and the shutter pleats are both super flattering and make your curves look perfect. It looks to me that the Black Tiered Satin & Chiffon dress is a signature design - I picked mine up almost three years ago, yet you can still buy it at Nordstrom and other department stores. The pink one is another story - I found it on the sale rack at Macy's, and have never been able to find the exact dress online. I've seen a similar one in straight sizes, and the same dress but with a big print recently in plus, but never that same gorgeous magenta I have.
Adrianna Papell is, and has been, the go-to label for me when it comes to evening-wear, and taking a look at some of their current pieces, I'm already planning my outfit for my next big event:

HOW GORGEOUS is the Embellished Shutter Pleat Dress (left)?!? Honestly, I could do without the embellishment (I'm actually surprised they added that), but that shape is KILLER. I love the Faux Leather Trim Dress as well, it's sexy as hell and the leather gives it some edge which I love!
Do you have any pieces from Adrianna Papell? What's your favorite?
Rain, I don't mind.
Hello everyone! It's raining here in Jersey but I'm having a lovely day so far! I wanted to share with you one of my very favorite outfits of the moment, two pieces of which are from my first ASOS Curve order back in August.
I just love these two together. This sweater is a regular in my work wardrobe, but this look shows just how versatile it can be.
Yay for accessories :)

This is another multitasking out fit in my book. Yes, it is a tiny bit risque to be wearing to the office, but a little thing like that never stopped me ;) I love how my favorite chain belt sits perfectly right at my natural waistline, though for work I did wear it under the sweater rather than over (a la the picture above, left). I think that tiny difference takes it down just a notch. This dress is really cute on it's own as well, though I would probably pair it with a different belt that sits higher on my waist, and black boots or pumps rather than my grey boots.
