Spring has sprung.

The weather has been absolutely unreal the last week or so here in my corner of the east coast. 75 degrees in March?! Unheard of. This time last year we were hit by of month of storms and were blanketed under a few inches of snow. I'm just hoping mother nature has had her fill of chilly days for the season and is as wholeheartedly pro-spring as I am!

I love the beginning of spring, when it's warm enough to prance about without a jacket, but cool enough that a dress with tights and boots is still comfortable - I have a feeling you'll be seeing me in some similar get-ups to this one, at least while this gorgeous weather lasts.

In the mean time, there's a pile of laundry about the size of Mount Everest in my room that's waiting to be conquered. It might explain the "I have nothing to wear" feeling I've been getting while trying to clothe myself each morning. That, and the fact that a lot of my stuff is too big now. In that vein, keep an eye on the shop - I'll be adding a TON of items very soon!

Unblogged

Happy Thanksgiving everyone! Unfortunately I am here in the office (time and a half anyone?), so I thought I'd pop in and give you this week's unblogged post.  The weather this week has been such crap, I haven't even attempted a full ootd shoot! Anywho, here goes!

Sequins + Sparkles | Everybody, Everywhere

As you can see, I couldn't resist my gray ASOS Curve jersey dress again - it's just so versatile! And I'm completely obsessed with the new tie sweater I paired it with, it's Ellen Tracy and I got it for an absolute steal at Burlington Coat Factory. I threw on my burgundy We Love Colors tights for the perfect pop of color!

This last photo is from Saturday night out in Hoboken with my girls. I finally found an occasion to rock my sequined blazer from Re/Dress that I got for - wait for it - $19.99!

Comment, email, or tweet me for any other outfit details :)

I hope you all have a great holiday! I'm thankful for family, friends, my wonderful boyfriend, and my amazing readers, among many things! How about you?

Losing light

We are losing afternoon light fast here on the east coast - daylight savings time is really going to screw me in the after-work photo department very soon. I'm still getting the last dregs of pretty golden light at this point and I'll be savoring it!

Every so often an item will come along that I fervently wish I had bought a back up of. This jersey dress from ASOS Curve is one of those items. I got it on super sale last fall, and have been wishing I bought a second ever since. It's held up really well so far, but I'm dreading the day I inevitably spill on it or rip it (knock on wood)! This piece has always been so easy to style up or down; two of my favorite outfits ever have it as a base.

Do you own and item that you wish you bought a back up of? Or something you have bought a backup of?

Utility blues

Top: NY&Co Outlet (here on the regular site). Skirt: NY&Co, thrifted. Tights: c/o We Love Colors. Booties: ASOS. Jacket: Macy's. Necklace: gifted. Bangles: Syms. Ring: NY&Co. Polish: Orly Galaxy Girl.

I have this problem. It starts with an innocent, selfless shopping trip to pick up a birthday gift for my sister at the local outlets, and it ends with me in a dressing room in a frenzy, trying on about 20 pieces while my sister's pile sadly stays at about two. But at a New York & Company outlet store where everything is on additional sale, how can you help but try on half the place?! This blue utility shirt is one of the pieces I picked up that day, it came out to about $14 if I'm not mistaken. This one's a hit for me not only because of the modest V-neck, waist-cinching tie belt and fantastic color (thanks, BF, for steering me away from the gray), but because the XL buttons over the girls with nary a gape! Unheard of!

Don't worry, I did manage to purchase bunch of awesome pieces for my little sister as well - between the NY&Co, Banana Republic, and J. Crew outlets and H&M, I got her a few flowy chiffon tops, a red bodycon skirt, as well as a few choice pieces of jewelry :) I love shopping for other people almost as much as I love shopping for myself!

Quick and comfy

IMG_6615IMG_6609IMG_6616IMG_6619IMG_6621

Please excuse the fuzzy pictures, night photography is a skill I'm still working on! But I wanted  to share photos of this comfy little outfit I threw together over the weekend. Stretchy jeans, a silky, blousey tank, a cardigan to ward off the chill, and a kitten heel - perfection!

By the way, what do you think of my hair straightened like this? I haven't worn it this way in ages, but I wanted to give my HANA flat iron from the peeps over at Misikko.com a try! I love how smooth it got my hair without losing all the volume - a difficult feat considering how fine my hair is! Have you ever visited Misikko? It's great, they have tons of different hair tools and flat irons from name brands like Chi, HANA, BioSilk, even Paul Mitchell!

A quickie

IMG_6517IMG_6506IMG_6504

Just a quick one today, my camera died after only a few photos of today's outfit so her's what we've got. I bought this dress from ASOS Curve at the beginning of the summer and it was a bit too snug then. It fits much better now so I finally decided to break it out with tights and my suede wedges. I have an urge to wear it next time with my Steve Madden Korset boots that I hunted down last year. There's something about soft chiffon paired with edgy leather...

Redo

IMG_5105IMG_5093IMG_5103IMG_5088IMG_5115

Rushing to take pictures in crappy weather sure does no favors for the quality of my photos! But it's been a few days since I've gotten a chance to take some pics and I wanted to get these up for you all :)

You've seen this top from ASOS Curve before, and it's styled pretty similarly as well; I just changed up the jewelry and the shoes. I really want to pair the wrap top with a skirt but I have yet to find one that works. 'Til then, looks like this baby will continue to get the denim treatment!

Goal

IMG_4003IMG_4009IMG_4018IMG_4012IMG_4021IMG_4046

Coming back from a long weekend is so hard, isn't it! I'm in vacation mode and I'm not ready to come back to work!! Especially with the beautiful summer weather we had all weekend, who could blame me for wanting to head to the beach instead of the office??

This wrap top is item numero uno from my latest ASOS order. If you're thinking of ordering this top, you should know that the wrap pieces are not attached to the shirt - so the pieces across my bust are not sewn down. This is good because you arrange then as high or low as you want, but if you're moving around a lot you'd have to keep fixing them. I was just at the office and supermarket so I didn't really have an issue with that. Same goes for the back, the wrap piece is not sewn down, but it's good in my opinion because you can pull the fabric higher up for more back coverage.  The top definitely emphasizes my bust, something I usually am not a fan of, but I still felt really comfortable and pretty wearing this top to work and running some errands. I think if I wear my hair down next time it won't be as emphasized. Speaking of hair, do you like my blogger bun? It's officially my I-didn't-have-time-to-wash-my-hair-this-morning style. I think it looks way more put together than a plain old ponytail!

The second piece I ordered from ASOS Curve was the cobalt blue Flippy Jersey Dress. It's very pretty, but I decided to return. On my figure, the high neckline combined with the shorter length was not flattering. One someone less busty, though, I think it'd be really cute!

Number three was the green Ruched Waist Shift Dress. This dress is absolutely beautiful, though it is a tiny bit snug as the fabric is chiffon and has no stretch. I decided I'm going to keep it though. Fitting into that dress for Panagias this summer is my weight loss goal. It's only a little tight so it's a very attainable goal! As of right now I'm down 3.2 lbs. Keep truckin'!
