The colors, Duke, the colors!!!

Remember that old popsicle commercial? No? Oh well.

Yesterday was Everybody, Everwear's neon day, so how perfectly appropriate is this outfit I wore out for dinner and drinks in Hoboken on Saturday? This scarf, which I picked up on a whim at Kohl's, has quickly become my favorite and is practically a staple in my wardrobe at the moment. I'm wearing it right now in fact -  it goes with everything! For those nights when I'm not in the mood to go out in a dress or anything all that revealing, an outfit like this is my go to - A few pops of color, an interesting tank, and a cute heel amp up the funk factor for a basic outfit that looks just as appropriate at the bar as it does at the office (yup, recycled this outfit on Monday!).

I'm BLUE badabadeedabadie...

Get the look: Top, skinnies (similar), scarf, shoes, ring (similar), watch

Rain, rain go away! I managed to snap a few pictures yesterday in a brief reprieve in the nonstop rain we've been having the last few days. It's so depressing! I'm ready for some warmth and sunshine like nobody's business!

These cobalt skinnies from the Gap are my new favorite pants. They're super comfortable, a great length, and surprisingly versatile for such a bright color. I love how they look paired with my Kiyonna top and this great scarf. Who would have thought all these colors would work so well together? I'm seriously contemplating going back for a pair in white...

Dotty Easter

You might think I'm a bit behind the times with my Easter post...NAY SIR, INCORRECT! I'm Greek Orthodox, and this year our Easter (according to the old calendar) fell the week after everyone else's. Not unusual, in fact the last two years when our Easter was the same day, that was unusual.

I was going back and forth between wearing this outfit and an adorable navy and coral colorblocked dress I picked up at Nordstrom Rack. This one ultimately won because realistically, I just couldn't resist wearing the neon cardigan on such a gorgeous day - in the sun it was eye-searingly bright! Love it!

You might remember my very favorite polka dot dress from this post back in October. I was so sad because since then, I've dropped a few sizes and the 2x dress was just swimming on me. I almost peed with excitement when I saw the same dress again on Forever21's site - it took me about 2.5 seconds to order it again in XL! Looks like I'm not the only one who loves it because it's already disappeared from the site. I listed the original in the Fatale Fashion Smashion shop but one lucky lady snapped it up within a few hours - if you've got a store that carries the plus line near you I'd definitely make a visit to try to find it in-store!

Underneath your clothes...

Buy it now: belt, wedges

It's amazing what the right undergarments will do. There was a time that I couldn't wear this dress without a scarf or without pinning the neckline to my bra - there was just too much bra showing to be appropriate! Enter my new best friend, the Andorra Full Cup Bra from Panache - I bought mine from Intimacy (best bra shopping experience EVER, I highly recommend!). The girls are up, the neckline is low, and the look is perfection :)

Speaking of undergarments, the girls aren't the only ones being taken care of at the moment. I'm super picky when it comes to my undies - I can't stand synthetic or polyester-like fabric in this case, nor do I want to be wearing underwear in weird, non-stretchy cotton (I've come across both - not good times). And there's nothing worse than too-tight underwear giving the dreaded VPL and muffin top, amiright? I like my everyday undies in soft, stretchy, comfortable cotton that breathes and moves with me. Duchess & Duchess gets it! That's why they created a line of pretty, flirty, and (most importantly) comfortable undies in sizes 1X-3X. The creators, Nina and Ines, were kind enough to send me a pair of hipsters and a thong to try out, and I must say, they did a great job with these! They have everything I look for: soft cotton, stretchy, enough coverage to be comfortable but still really cute.

If you're a size 3X (52"-54" hips) it's your lucky day! I have 2 pairs to give away to one lucky lady (one thong and one hipster)! This'll be a quick one - giveaway closes at 12:01am on Monday! Use the Rafflecopter form below to enter :)

Crisp and clean

IMG_7804IMG_7817IMG_7809IMG_7800IMG_7821

I'm feeling a little déjà vu in this printed top with black bottoms and a white jacket - it's almost identical to an outfit I wore in early June of last year, but I like the proportions of this version much better!

Old Navy treated me very, very well this week. On Tuesday Jennifer and I went to browse around the mall, and this white denim jacket and pair of black Rockstar Jeggings are two of the pieces I picked up. I love them alone, I love them together! The pants are going to be my go-to pair this spring and summer, now that my black Michael Kors ankle pants are too big. And the white jacket is the perfect topper for so many outfits! I picked up a gorgeous maxi dress as well that's going to look so cute with it :) For reference, I'm wearing a Large as I like a snug fit.

Whoever said that curvy girls shouldn't wear skinny jeans is absolutely out of their goddamn mind. To be quite frank, I love the way my legs and curves look in the very skinniest of skinnies, these especially! If you haven't tried the Rockstar Jeggings yet, you most definitely should. Many of the washes are sold out online but I had a lot of luck finding them in stores so be sure to pop in to your local Old Navy - I picked up second dark wash pair for good measure as well, since I love my first pair so much! These jeggings are so soft and super stretchy, comfort to the max! Size up as they run small - I'm wearing a 16 here.  Be aware though, the regular (denim-colored) Rockstars are a different fabric (77% cotton, 21% polyester, 2% Spandex) than the colored ones (98% cotton, 2% spandex) making the fit different. I've found that the colored version are not as stretchy and more snug.

Hope you all have a lovely weekend :)

Bare

IMG_7733

Oh la la, a day at the theater! It may have only been the black box theater at Rutgers, but I was very excited to go see "Bare: A Pop Opera" last Saturday with my friend Ashley. It may not have been Broadway, but anytime I go see a performance of any type I like to look nice! Seems a little silly doesn't it, being that you're sitting in the dark, but it must be the theater geek in me that wants to "respect the art." And hey, I had plans to get drinks after, so I needed to do double duty! Thankfully, Kiyonna had sent me this great top just a few days prior and it was just what I was looking for.

This is the Trina top in green, and I must say, it's another hit in my book. It's made of a thick, luscious stretch jersey, and is cut perfectly to accommodate a larger chest, even with the V-neckline. No pins needed, and I'm able to wear my everyday, lock-and-load 'em bra with nothing peeking out. The three-quarter sleeves are fitted and hit at the perfect spot just below my elbows - I hate loose sleeves on shirts and will push them up most of the time anyway, so this cut is right up my alley.  I also love how the shirt skims my body around the midsection; it doesn't cling one bit and is so, so flattering to my figure.

The Trina is simple and elegant, but so well constructed that it doesn't need any bells and whistles to look great. A pair of skinnies, a pretty necklace, and a pair of wedges and off I went!

Oh you fancy!

IMG_7676

When planning for a special occasion, what lady can say that the planning of her outfit is not just as important as the venue, or guest list, or even perhaps even the menu?

The occasion at hand just a few weeks ago was my boyfriend's 24th birthday. I knew I wanted to take him somewhere nice - as culinary connoisseurs, we both appreciate a well cooked meal as much or more than any fancy decor. With the reservations booked, gifts wrapped and ready, the only thing left to sort out was the ever-present question: "What am I going to wear??"

IMG_7681IMG_7682

Kiyonna to the rescue! As the newest member of their Blogger Brigade, they sent me the most perfect dress for the occasion - with perfect timing too!

This is the Scalloped Boudoir Lace Dress and I am just absolutely head over heels for it. I love the nude lining and sheer sleeves - so classy with simple jewelry and a red lip. On this particular day I didn't have the bra I usually wear with deeper V's, but a simple pin at the bust saved the day - But I'd totally wear it with the proper plunge for another nighttime event, perhaps with bare legs and nude heels next time :) I'm wearing the 0x and it fits like a dream, fitted but still skimming over any problem areas. I can't wait to wear it again to my next fancy event!

Gobble, gobble

IMG_7115IMG_7114IMG_7137IMG_7139IMG_7140

Here it is, the required Thanksgiving outfit post! Lets be honest here, the quality of these pictures is absolute crap, but I hardly care. This is dress is stripey, vibrant perfection!! This is hands down the best purchase I've ever made from eShakti, and also one of my favorite purchases, period. Not only because of the gorgeous stripe, but because of the quality; it's very clearly well made. The fabric is a thick, luxurious cotton with minimal stretch. The stripes are individual strips of fabric sewn together, and the pleating at the waist is meticulous and oh so perfect. A pain to iron, but once you do, they create the most charming puff in the skirt.

Besides all of that, the fit is spot on. The neckline is cut high enough to keep the girls in check even with the V neck, there's no gaping at the arm holes, and it nips in perfectly at the waist. I never do custom sizing for eShakti, I just select the best standard size for my measurements and add my height and bra size :) If you're dying for some stripey goodness of your own, the green and blue version of this beauty is still available. The need for tweed

IMG_7005IMG_6961IMG_6976IMG_7019IMG_7002

Lately, I've felt the need for tweed. It started with a tweed-loving boyfriend and a fabulous thrifted blazer. Then, this amazing skirt I spotted on eloquii. That gem is a bit too pricey for my wallet at the moment, so imagine my excitement when I saw this mossy beauty on the rack at my local Syms for a mere $34.99! And in my size! It was fate, I'm sure of it. Green's my color after all, and the pretty gold flecks (which are hard to see here) pair so perfectly with a gold belt and accessories :)

Scary weekend, but not for your normal Halloween-y reasons! We got hit hard by a freak snowstorm here on the east coast, and my town has been without power since Saturday :( It's crazy the sort of damage that some unseasonal weather can do - There are trees down all over town because of the extra weight that snow on leaves put on limbs!

IMG_6763IMG_6792

You didn't' think that would stop me going out for Halloween though, did you? No power, internet, or heat just gave me more of an excuse to get on a train to hoboken to drink out the snow with family and friends :)
