Buzzin' Just Like Neon

IMG_3336

I've been so spoiled with outdoor ootd's lately that it killed me to have to shoot this spicy little number inside! These are the cropped Michael Kors pants I purchased with the gift certificate I won from the lovely Monique of Curves and Chaos. With the $79 price tag, they're a splurge I never would have made with my own money, but with Nordstrom picking up the tab, why not!

I'm so glad I picked these up as they are so, so comfortable and cute and will look great remixed a million ways over this spring, summer, and fall. If you're thinking of grabbing these, they do run big - I usually would have gone for the 16W, but after reading reviews I ordered the 14W and they fit perfectly.

This animal print jacket was an impulse buy from H&M, and I contemplated returning it more than once. Seeing it in these pictures I think it looks really cute and flattering so it's a keeper. This is only a straight size L so I almost didn't even try it on in the store, but it looks great. Forget about numbers, if you don't try it on you'll never know! I paired the jacket and pants with this neon tunic with pearl accents for some color and piled on the pearl accessories. I really like how this look turned out, I can see myself wearing many variations of this to work, out for drinks, or on a nice date with the boy :)

Koi/Coy Fish

I hope everyone had a great Halloween! I had so much fun visiting my alma mater for homecoming/halloween weekend. You'll see a pic of my homemade costume below ;)

I'm so behind on posts! This was my outfit on Thursday - I've been running around like crazy and didn't have time to post til now!

This vest from INC International Concepts Plus Size was a bit pricey but totally worth the money when I bought it last year. I've worn it everywhere from a bachelorette party to job interviews. This was my work outfit, and the first time I've work the vest open rather than buttoned. It's much more casual and I really like the way it looks! I thought it was going to hang too wide open and just look unflattering, but the tailoring of it gave shape even though it wasn't buttoned shut.

Though I live in leggings I generally don't do the leggings-as-pants thing by wearing them with shorter tops - I usually do a tunic that at LEAST will cover the bum. I was in a serious laundry emergency (aka, I havent done any in AGES), so I threw on these black ankle length leggings I picked up in JCPenney the other day. Surprisingly, I feel like my legs look rather good in this outfit! Yea, I may have some thunder thighs, but who cares? I love how the leggings look with flats, and I especially love the button up detail on the bottom of these. I like that it's on the back instead of the side, it's a little surprise for when you turn around ;)

I was running out the door so I kept it relatively simple with the accessories. My wrist is wrapped up in a combo of three bracelets. The beaded on is a long strand wrapped multiple times, and it has this cute shell loop closure. Then there's a leather band that looks like a belt buckle, and my favorite (though you can't really see it) is a gold chain link that's weaved with black leather - that's the three round snaps you see in the pic above.

My favorite though is this koi fish necklace. Isn't the detail on this gorgeous!

And of course the required Halloween pic:

We were a double rainbow!! "What does it meaaaaaaaaan?!" LOL! Excuse the bad quality, it was a BlackBerry pic. The top is a tunic from American Apparel that I sewed rainbow strips of fabric to. The Green E was a lazy bum and didn't make hers in time, so I improvised and sewed long strips of color to the neckline of her top. I actually like it better than mine! The tunic was uber short, but oh well, I had some fierce tights on!

Cute right! I layered these awesome black textured tights over a bright pair of pink ones. I liked the tights so much I'm planning to wear them with a real outfit, not just with my costume!

Office Remix

Just because I work in an office doesn't mean that I'm going to conform to the ol' "skirt, slacks, button down" uniform you see on most people in cubes. Working at a newspaper, I do have a lot of lee way as our dress code is pretty casual, so sometimes I like to mix up my work staples to give them a little funk.

This slouchy sweater from ASOS Curve is one of my favorite purchases of the season so far. It's only midway through October and I've already worn it a million times, and in many different ways - it's so versatile! You can keep it casual with jeans, a cute tee and flats, or it's super easy to dress up too - One of my favorite ways to wear it is belted over a dress. Here I paired it with a tunic-length button down, leggings and boots. This is a perfect outfit for work for me, especially because the sweater keeps me warm in our ARCTIC air conditioning. I don't have all that many button downs because my chest makes it really difficult to find ones that fit properly. This one is great because it has seaming at the bustline that give it a much more feminine shape. I still had to pin the placket between the second and third button so it wouldn't gape, but I don't think its too obvious.
