Happiknits

Is there anything better, in the frosty days of winter, than a giant, warm, cozy scarf? (Hint: No.)

This particular beauty, the cobalt Super Snuggly Chunky Knit Cowl, comes from a fantastic little Etsy shop called Happiknits, run by fellow New Jerseyan (New Jerseyite?) Becca.

What I love most about this cowl (besides the fact that it's warm, soft, snuggly, and that it's just HUGE!) is the construction. Becca handknits these cowl in such a way that they're actually just one twisted loop. This is what makes the cowl drape so beautifully, so you get that effortless 'wrapped' look without having to do any wrapping or looping at all.

I love that depending on how you position the scarf you get a different look. My instagram above is the perfect example of that 'wrapped' look. I played around with the cowl in the pics below for a few other looks.

IMG_7612IMG_7617

I pushed the twist to the back of my neck for a long, draped look in the front. Forget statement necklace, it's a statement all it's own!

The cowl is so huge that you can even pull it down around your shoulders on a chilly day, or if you work in an arctic office like I do. Twist in the front, see?

IMG_7631IMG_7637

There's so many different ways to wear it; I pop it on and just fiddle until I like they way it's sitting! I've worn it nonstop in the last few weeks and always get a ton of compliments.

Contrary to my sad inside photos and instagram, the cobalt color is actually the gorgeously bright and saturated blue that Becca shows in her Etsy shop. This cowl comes in a ton of different colors too, like chartreuse, mustard, and the most beautiful cranberry red!

On to the good stuff. Want to get your hand on your own piece of Happiknits? Becca is hosting a giveaway of one of her cowls on her blog, check it out here!

Last but not least...Giveaway #5!

A week of giveaways is coming to a close, but I'm so glad to have the opportunity to giveaway this final product to one of you lucky ducks courtesy of Skindura!

SecretShield is a "100% veggie derived formula that creates a breathable barrier on skin.  Waterproof and sweatproof yet it allows your skin to perspire.  Stands up to hot, dry, humid, and cold conditions.  Won't evaporate, like products made from  mineral oil, lanolin, water, or alcohol.  Fragrance free, no artificial colors, and non staining.  Silky formula glides on and stays put.  Great for everyday activities to guard against skin friction.  Out performs other products like greasy petroleum, smothering silicone, messy powder, and uncomfortable shapewear.  Handy tube is portable enough to take anywhere.  Say Goodbye to Chafing and Hello to Freedom!"

I can't agree with Skindura's description more! I've used other anti-chafing products and none has worked as well or lasted as long as SecretShield. I even walked around NYC an entire day in a dress with no irritation! If that's not the ultimate test, I don't know what is!

I've raved about how amazingly SecretShield works in conquering the chubrub, and now one of you gets to try it out for yourself!

Since this is the last giveaway, we'll make it easy! To enter:

1. Be a follower - let me know how!
2. 'Like' Skindura on Facebook

That's it! Good luck everyone!

Chrdesigns Giveaway!

Have you noticed the pretty little gold necklace I've been wearing in a bunch of my ootd's lately?

IMG_4198

IMG_4513IMG_4420IMG_4275

I was on the hunt for a delicate everyday gold necklace, and the Bicone necklace courtesy of Chrdesigns fit the bill perfectly! Click the photos of me or links above to see how I styled my necklace :)

Cindy Roth, the brains behind Chrdesigns, has a way of making jewelry that is unique and eclectic, while still feminine. Details like tiny crystals, pearls, and gold lace make her designs stand out from many on Etsy. And she's no one trick pony either! Cindy creates delicate pieces like my bicone necklace above, but she also dabbles in statement making necklaces, earrings, and bracelets, rings, and even accessories like hair combs! A few of my favorites:

Fat Girl Flea Market and tru.che Giveaway winner!

If you follow me on Twitter you may have seen me tweeting about Saturday's NYC Fat Girl Flea Market. It was such an awesome event with great deals, great people, and a positive message. Here's a few photos I snapped with my iPhone during the event.

Comfy and ready to go!
This poster hung in the makeshift dressing room. I love the message and people really get into body positive spirit, helping and complementing each other as we tried on our finds.
My purchases! The green/blue to the left is this awesome sweater/blazer hybrid. It's so unique and quirky, I've been wearing it nonstop! The leopard is a gorgeous vintage calf-length pencil skirt that fits like a dream, I just need to chop about a foot an a half from it! Inventory: 2 cardigans, one vest, one sweater, two skirts, one tank top, one dress. Damage: $27. Amazing!

And of course, the winner of the tru.che earrings!

Congrats Shasie! Look out for an email from me :)

Etsy Love - tru.che Giveaway!

One of my favorite ways to pass the time is to browse around the complete goldmine that is Etsy. From vintage clothes, to funky housewares, to hand crocheted baby hats (recently purchased this one for a baby shower), to handmade jewelry, you can find it all on this amazing online marketplace, and probably at a better price, quality and style than anywhere else!

I happened to stumble across the Etsy shop tru.che, and I positively squealed in delight at what I found!

il_570xN.202029667il_570xN.212326133il_570xN.181199380il_570xN.201663510

Stevie, the brains behind tru.che, is a Michigan native living in Chicago, who recently quit her day job to create her jewelry full time. She's guided by the principle that you should wear what you love - and I am loving her pieces! I love the idea of showing your hometown pride by wearing your state around your neck! Stevie can custom create any country or state for you - I want to get one of both NJ and of Greece!

The geographic pendants aren't Stevie's only specialty, she also makes adorable pendants and stud earrings like the ones above in silver, wood, acrylic, and leather. And she's offering Fatale Fashion readers a chance to win a pair!

Entering to win these adorable Bamboo Flowers from tru.che is simple - Just be a follower of the blog and leave a comment with your email! That's it!

Of course, extra entries are always available:
1. Follow @FataleFashion on twitter - let me know your twitter handle.
2. Follow @trudesign7 on twitter - let me know your twitter handle.
3. 'Like' Fatale Fashion on Facebook - let me know your FB name.
4. 'Like' tru.che on Facebook - let me know your FB name.
5. Leave a comment telling me your favorite piece in the tru.che shop.

The little details

Everyone has those days when you're just too tired or just can't be bothered scrounge through your closet for layers and belts and cardigans and everything we throw on to make our outfits fabulous. When I'm in that lazy sort of mood, I find myself reaching for particular pieces in my closet - simple, easy to wear tops or dresses that have a special detail that make them pop on their own. Like this brown tee!

Top: H&M
Flats: Payless
Ring: ASOS
Bangle: borrowed
Necklace: BaysideGems

The ruffled sleeves stand on their own - it'd be a shame to cover up the shoulders with a cardigan or blazer! I paired the top with my usually skinnies, my X ring, a bangle, and these funky tweed flats I picked up at Payless last year. And I'm sure you noticed my awesome green pendant!

FF021011CHEST

This is the Lucious Lime Glass Pendant handmade and kindly sent to me by Stephanie of BaysideGems. Stephanie's history of working with glass is a long one; she started making stained glass for landscape and home decor over ten years ago before taking some classes and learning how to work with fused glass about two years ago. Steph's studio is on the Delaware bay and she draws a lot of her inspiration for pieces from the beautiful sunrises and sunsets there.

How pretty is this pendant! I love the channel through the top of the glass and how you can see the chain through it. Also loving the shimmery bits embedded in here. The great thing about this pendant is that the channel is wide enough to accommodate a variety of chains, ribbons, cords, or anything else you could want to hang it from.

And they came packaged so adorably!

What's that you say? You're wondering about the second box?

Lucky you! Steph was kind enough to send along this beautiful Red White and Blue Mod Cocktail Ring as well to give away! The ring is adjustable and can fit any size :)
