Buzzin' Just Like Neon

IMG_3336

I've been so spoiled with outdoor ootd's lately that it killed me to have to shoot this spicy little number inside! These are the cropped Michael Kors pants I purchased with the gift certificate I won from the lovely Monique of Curves and Chaos. With the $79 price tag, they're a splurge I never would have made with my own money, but with Nordstrom picking up the tab, why not!

I'm so glad I picked these up as they are so, so comfortable and cute and will look great remixed a million ways over this spring, summer, and fall. If you're thinking of grabbing these, they do run big - I usually would have gone for the 16W, but after reading reviews I ordered the 14W and they fit perfectly.

This animal print jacket was an impulse buy from H&M, and I contemplated returning it more than once. Seeing it in these pictures I think it looks really cute and flattering so it's a keeper. This is only a straight size L so I almost didn't even try it on in the store, but it looks great. Forget about numbers, if you don't try it on you'll never know! I paired the jacket and pants with this neon tunic with pearl accents for some color and piled on the pearl accessories. I really like how this look turned out, I can see myself wearing many variations of this to work, out for drinks, or on a nice date with the boy :)

F-f-f-friday!

Why is it that Fridays always insist on being my craziest days at work? Only time for a quickie here today so I wanted to share this funky little outfit I wore yesterday. I picked up this tunic ages ago at Macy's when I first started working, and I liked the idea of mixing the different shades of blue together by adding the navy jersey blazer. Looking at this now, there are other ways I think this tunic would have looked nicer; I'm not loving the proportions. I think a shorter cardigan would have been better - I'm dying for a yellow one! As you can see, I'm still loving the crap out of these Torrid boots - I'll definitely be sad to put them aside once warm weather hits.

Even though I'm far from Irish, I'm kicking off my St. Patty's day celebrations early and heading to Hoboken tomorrow for their St. Patty's Day parade. It's basically an entire day of drinking and debauchery - just what the doctor ordered. Besides my green getup, I decided a green marble manicure would truly get me into the spirit :)

Hope you all have a lovely weekend!

Surprise!

I can't tell you how excited I was to come home yesterday and find my Secret Blogger gift waiting for me!

FF1222gift

My Santa was Case of Frugal Fatshion Frenzy and she totally blew me away with her perfect gifts! First, this beautiful tunic dress from F21:

It's made of a really comfy stretch jersey, I love how it hugs my curves and is in the color of the season; taupe! Isn't the draped neckline fabulous?

I love the belt it comes with too (which is detachable, yay), it goes perfectly with so many of my accessories, and will look great on so many other outfits! Here I paired it with gold chandelier earrings and a statement gold cuff.

That's not all!

Nail polish! You all know how I feel about nail polish! I'm gonna get great use outta these babies, especially the gold glitter! I already have an idea in mind :)

Case, you totally nailed my style and I love my presents! Thanks girl!

And also a huge thanks to Gerry over at Big Beautyful Mess for putting together the Secret Blogger Gift Exchange, it was great to get to know some of these lovely ladies better!

Office Remix

Just because I work in an office doesn't mean that I'm going to conform to the ol' "skirt, slacks, button down" uniform you see on most people in cubes. Working at a newspaper, I do have a lot of lee way as our dress code is pretty casual, so sometimes I like to mix up my work staples to give them a little funk.

This slouchy sweater from ASOS Curve is one of my favorite purchases of the season so far. It's only midway through October and I've already worn it a million times, and in many different ways - it's so versatile! You can keep it casual with jeans, a cute tee and flats, or it's super easy to dress up too - One of my favorite ways to wear it is belted over a dress. Here I paired it with a tunic-length button down, leggings and boots. This is a perfect outfit for work for me, especially because the sweater keeps me warm in our ARCTIC air conditioning. I don't have all that many button downs because my chest makes it really difficult to find ones that fit properly. This one is great because it has seaming at the bustline that give it a much more feminine shape. I still had to pin the placket between the second and third button so it wouldn't gape, but I don't think its too obvious.
