Sweet and Simple

IMG_3964IMG_3965IMG_3966IMG_3963IMG_3960

I'm not usually one to leave the house without lots of accessories - belts, necklaces, bracelets, rings; but sometimes the simpler the better. This dress with the beaded neckline is an old favorite, and I often find I don't need much for it to look great. My simple vintage pendant, a few bracelets, and a pop of yellow on my feet was all I needed on this gorgeous day!

On an unrelated note, ASOS has been baller status when it comes to shipping lately! I got my order in just five days! Pop in tomorrow to see how I style one of my new pieces :)

Black and Grey

I didn't realize my Vintage Finds post on Friday was my 100th post! Yay! I started this blog as a way to challenge myself to dress better, kind of a way to stay accountable for how I look - I didn't realize how much I would come to love doing it, and how many lovely people I would "meet" from it! Thanks to everyone that reads and for all your support and comments!

See, told you! Here are the boots again, this time in a dressier fashion. I liked this outfit, but looking at it now I think I should have styled it differently. If I could go back, I'd lose the leopard belt and go with a statement necklace - the one I'm wearing is entirely to dainty and delicate. I think I'll give the skirt and high boots thing a try again, but in a different way.

Separately from this outfit though, I love the belt. I like that it's long enought to tie up in one of those untraditional knots that you see bloggers doing all the time. Also, yay for weather that's nice enough for outdoor photos, and for it not being dark by 5!

I love using the smile detection setting on my camera because it gives me well focused shots - but I always look silly in the first frame or two trying to activate it lol!

Soco Amaretto Lime

Nothing like some lime to punch up the color in an outfit!

I love this cardigan because the color is just so in-your-face bright! The pictures don't even do it justice. This printed burnout tee I picked up from Forver21+ matched so perfectly that, paired with some fun gold accessories, it made for a great casual outfit for hanging out with friends on the weekend.
And behold, the Torrid knee high boots I've been babbling on about!!

I am soooooo completely in love with these boots! I got them on Friday, and have worn them almost everyday since, no joke. They are the perfect height and fit my 17.5 inch calves perfectly, even with some wiggle room. They zip up and have an elastic insert, so you ladies with even larger calves would definitely fit as well. I love how they're so versatile - This outfit from Saturday was casual, but today I am wearing them at work with tights, a skirt and a sweater. OOTD to come! Torrid definitely impressed me with these, and I definitely will be trying their boots next season instead of just assuming they all suck.

Koi/Coy Fish

I hope everyone had a great Halloween! I had so much fun visiting my alma mater for homecoming/halloween weekend. You'll see a pic of my homemade costume below ;)

I'm so behind on posts! This was my outfit on Thursday - I've been running around like crazy and didn't have time to post til now!

This vest from INC International Concepts Plus Size was a bit pricey but totally worth the money when I bought it last year. I've worn it everywhere from a bachelorette party to job interviews. This was my work outfit, and the first time I've work the vest open rather than buttoned. It's much more casual and I really like the way it looks! I thought it was going to hang too wide open and just look unflattering, but the tailoring of it gave shape even though it wasn't buttoned shut.

Though I live in leggings I generally don't do the leggings-as-pants thing by wearing them with shorter tops - I usually do a tunic that at LEAST will cover the bum. I was in a serious laundry emergency (aka, I havent done any in AGES), so I threw on these black ankle length leggings I picked up in JCPenney the other day. Surprisingly, I feel like my legs look rather good in this outfit! Yea, I may have some thunder thighs, but who cares? I love how the leggings look with flats, and I especially love the button up detail on the bottom of these. I like that it's on the back instead of the side, it's a little surprise for when you turn around ;)

I was running out the door so I kept it relatively simple with the accessories. My wrist is wrapped up in a combo of three bracelets. The beaded on is a long strand wrapped multiple times, and it has this cute shell loop closure. Then there's a leather band that looks like a belt buckle, and my favorite (though you can't really see it) is a gold chain link that's weaved with black leather - that's the three round snaps you see in the pic above.

My favorite though is this koi fish necklace. Isn't the detail on this gorgeous!

And of course the required Halloween pic:

We were a double rainbow!! "What does it meaaaaaaaaan?!" LOL! Excuse the bad quality, it was a BlackBerry pic. The top is a tunic from American Apparel that I sewed rainbow strips of fabric to. The Green E was a lazy bum and didn't make hers in time, so I improvised and sewed long strips of color to the neckline of her top. I actually like it better than mine! The tunic was uber short, but oh well, I had some fierce tights on!

Cute right! I layered these awesome black textured tights over a bright pair of pink ones. I liked the tights so much I'm planning to wear them with a real outfit, not just with my costume!

Vest & Yellow top: INC International Concepts Plus via Macy's (No longer available)

Flats: Preview via Nordstrom Rack
Necklace: My sister's
