I've always been a procrastinator, and this holiday season is no different from any other - so Saturday I knew I needed to get on the Christmas shopping ball. There are two things that never fail to cheer me up: Nice weather and a cute outfit! So I decided to take advantage of the pretty day to take my pics outside before I headed to the shops :)
This outfit incorporates two great finds from Old Navy. I belted the Ruffle Keyhole Top and paired it with these Denim Leggings. The top lets the girls out to play more than I usually go for but my trusty red cardigan tones it down a bit (also from Old Navy acutally). I've always gravitated towards black and red together, and I love the detail of the white polka dots and the ruffled neckline, which runs all the way around the neck of this top instead of just stopping at the shoulder. I like this so much I got it in two colors!
Some people may not like the fact that these jeggings have a thick, elastic waistband (like leggings ) rather than zipper and button closure like jeans, but I actually like it. It smooths the tummy area. These aren't just blue leggings with stitching though, these are actual demin; maybe even less stretchy than I expected. I really like these a lot, I'm thinking about going back to get a second pair. You can never have enough of staples like this in my option; they're perfect for tucking in jeans or with flats or heels. They're on the short side though - hitting right at the ankle on me, and I'm 5'5. Some of you taller ladies may find these only good for wearing with boots.
Throw on my go-to grey Target boots (they're on sale!) and some accessories, and I'm ready to go :)

Just wanted to say thanks to everyone for their kind words about my grandfather. Means a lot :)
God, the beau teases me mercilessly about my love of polka dots.
ReplyDeleteAlso--great tip on the Old Navy jeggings! I've been wanting some, but with an elastic waist (I think they make for better fit)...though the length may be an issue!
Super cute outfit!! I love the boots, and the red and black are really fabulous together! I love my skinny jeans, but I've not tried jeggings yet. They look really cute though! :)
ReplyDeleteI bought the same top from Old Navy, LOVE the polka dots but found that it's not very work friendly b/c of the low cut and haven't worn it yet. The red cardigan looks great with it!
ReplyDelete@Lynn You're right, it's pretty lowcut for work - I'm thinking I'll probably add a lacy camisole underneath for more coverage at work.
ReplyDelete@matt they're really comfy! I just wish they were an inch or two longer!
I love the color red!!! I was just telling another blogger that and then I saw your post and it just reaffirms my thoughts:-) You look fab!!! Casual but cute:-) I didn't even realize I wasn't following you on twitter, but know I am @tnfashionista!
ReplyDeleteThanks girl!! Yup I saw that you joined me...welcome :) lol
ReplyDeletePolka dots make every outfit ever more interesting, no matter what colour. Red and black polka dots are like the perfect match but then so is pink and polka dots and blue and polka dots and ... summary: I Love polka dots!
ReplyDeleteLooking cute today!
love the red cardi, very festive :)
