Blog Awards!

I was so blown away yesterday when the fabulous Kim of Fashion Momma tweeted me (@fashionmomma22) that she was granting me a "Your Blog is Breathtaking" award, and even more so when I logged on this morning and saw that Michaniya at Finally Accepting All of Me was passing me the "Stylish Blogger" award! I am so truly honored you guys! This blog has become one of the biggest highlights of my day, and I'm so appreciative of everyone that's reading and enjoying what I'm doing :) So here goes the question answering for both of these awards!

The rules for this award are that I answer these seven questions and then pass the award to some of my faves. Here goes nothing!

1. What inspires you?

As far as fashion and dressing myself goes, I'm very much inspired by the things I see on other bloggers. I follow more blogs than is remotely healthy (and the list grows everyday...I can't help it!), and I'm always seeing looks that make me want to remix my clothes and make the look my own. Generally, I'm inspired by my family and friends to live a life that I love, to be brave enough to do things that I want (like starting this blog in the first place), and not to settle for anything less than the best for myself (especially when it comes to relationships).

2. What is your favorite season and why?

I love every season for different reasons. Summer, though not my favorite style-wise (how am I supposed to layer when its 98 and muggy as hell?), reminds me of summers in Greece with family, and is always a bit more fun and carefree than those cold months. I love fall and winter because they are my favorite seasons to dress for - there's nothing I love wearing more than a cute dress with tights and boots, or chunky sweaters, and you just can't get away with that in the summer! Springtime though, is probably my all around favorite. I love when everything starts turning green and comes alive, the sun is shining, and its warm, but not hot; perfect weather to throw a cute cardi or jacket over your outfit :)

3. What are you most looking forward to this year?

I'm looking forward to the year itself - I'm convinced this year is my year.  I'm going to stop trying to be someone I'm not and embrace who I am, I'm finally going to find Mr. Right after so many Mr. Wrongs (positive thinking!!), and I'm going to live life to the very fullest. This blog is part of my excitement - I'm hoping it will continue to grow and will bring big things and wonderful people my way! ...Ok, there is ONE thing I'm looking forward too - taking my first summer vacation in two years!

4. If you could write a book about anything, what would you write about?

I'd probably write a book about a girl who does everything I dream about doing...She'd have a fabulous job and travel around the world and meet amazing people and the perfect man. Corny, huh?

5. What is your greatest passion? 

Probably my family and friends and spending time with them. Sometimes I feel like I'm still finding myself and developing my passions besides that, though fashion has quickly been creeping up there to the top.

6. If you could change one thing about your life or yourself what would it be and why? 

I would make myself better at staying in touch with people! I'm the worst when it comes to calling people and making time to get together with old friends, and it sadly means that a lot of great friends have slowly faded out of my life.

7. Lastly, what is your favorite novel? 

I'm a HUGE reader so I truly can't pick just one - usually it's whatever I'm reading at the moment. As dorky as it sounds though, the Harry Potter series will always have a very, very special place in my heart.

And here are 7 things about me, as per the "Stylish Blogger" award:

1. I'm Greek, and I do all the stereotypical Greek things and love them all! I spend (except for recently) my summers in Greece, I went to Greek school for six years, I eat Mousaka and love it, have an overbearing father who clearly has the answers for everything, and am constantly asked by parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, etc., "When are you going to find a nice Greek boy to settle down with??" Did you see "My Big Fat Greek Wedding"? Take away the Windex and my life is eerily similar.
2. To my family's horror, I recently ended a six month relationship with "a nice Greek boy". This goes back to what I said above about not settling for anything but the best for myself, and that includes relationships that may look perfect on paper, but are not fulfilling in real life. I've decided I will not be with someone simply to be with someone.
3. I have an older brother and an younger sister, both of whom have gone or will be going to medical and law school (respectively) after graduating college. As the lone sibling who started working straight our of school, and who probably won't be making three figures anytime soon, I do sometimes feel like the black sheep of the group.
4. I hold my younger sister's relationship with her boyfriend of 3 years on a pedestal as an example of everything I'm looking for in a relationship. They are so disgustingly perfect together I often want to barf on them, but really can't complain because her boyfriend has become one of my closest friends - at this point he is pretty much part of the family and I consider him a brother.
5. My job bores the crap out of me (as you all can probably tell), and I'm hoping to switch jobs relatively soon.
6. Said job's only redeeming factor is that my paycheck feeds my terrible shopping habits.
7. I currently am living at home, which drives me INSANE. Yet another reason I am looking for a new job - I'm hoping for one that pays better and is located in Manhattan, so I can finally realize my longtime dream of living in New York.

Fun fact: I am, right at this moment, eating possibly the most delicious apple I have ever tasted in my life.
